City Meet is finally here! Whoo hoo!!! We are starting a bit earlier this year to beat the heat and get everyone home sooner. Here is everything you need to know for the weekend, broken down by category.
⏱️ THE WEEKEND SCHEDULE
Friday (Individual Medleys Only)
- 12:00 PM:Tent setup begins (No stakes allowed. Tents can stay up all weekend, but please do not leave food out).
- 4:30 PM – 4:45 PM:Mallards Warm-ups (Lanes 1–5).
- 5:25 PM:Stroke & Turn judges meet at the announcer’s table.
- 5:45 PM: Meet starts!!!!
Saturday & Sunday (Campus opens at 6:25 AM)
- 7:10 AM – 7:20 AM: Mallards Warm-ups (Lanes 5–10, plus unmarked lanes 11–15).
- 8:10 AM:Stroke & Turn judges meet at the announcer’s table.
- 8:15 AM:Marshals, Timers, Head Timer/Judge, and Runners meet at the announcer’s table.
- 8:20 AM (Saturday Only):Half-lappers swim immediately following the National Anthem.
- 8:30 AM:8 & Under staging begins.
- 9:00 AM:Meet starts.
🤝 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED (35 Total Roles)
I just set up the volunteer roles on Swimtopia.
If your kid is swimming, YOU MUST SIGN UP FOR A ROLE. (parents with only ducklings exempt).
- Friday:
- 2 Timer
- 1 Timer Runner (runs DQs from judges to scoring table)
- 1 Person to transport 6 pop-up tents from our pool and set them up at St. Mary's and 3 others to help set up the pop up tents and tables.
- Saturday:
- 2 Timers (Lanes 4–5) for shift A Butterfly and 2 for Shift B Backstroke
- 1 Head Timer each for shift A and B
- 3 Marshals for shift A and B
- Sunday:
- 2 Timer (Lanes 4–5) for shift A Breastroke and Shift B Freestyle and Relay
- 3 Marshals for shift A and B
- 2 Camp Cleanup People (We cannot collect our ribbons until our site is signed off!)
- 1 Person to pack down the 6 Mallards tents and return them to our pool and 3 other to help break down the tables and canopies.
Volunteer Check-In Note:Check in at the Volunteer Table. Timers will receive red vests. To speed up check-in, please use this phrase:"I am a [role] for Mallards of Brookside [in lane or job location]."
🍉 TEAM FOOD & REFRESHMENTS
Once you secure a prime parking spot, you won't want to leave! We are organizing collective food for our 65 swimmers to keep everyone energized.
Provided:
- Water:Water filling stations are available.Bring refillable water bottles!
- Saturday Lunch:Costco Pizza.
- Sunday Lunch:Catered by Go Falafel!
- Breakfast/Snacks (Susan):Yogurt, granola, honey, and chocolate chips.
Items Still Needed (Please sign up on Swimtopia): remember we have 65 swimmers and associated parents.
- 4 dozen Donuts
- Fruit
- Mini Bagels & Cream Cheese
- Snacks (Chips, cuties, gummies, granola bars)
🚨 CRITICAL MEET RULES & LOGISTICS
- Parking & Tent Location: Our team will be in the large site just off the smaller front parking lot.Do not park along the walls.They will tow you. I've attached a photo of the campsites so that you can understand where we are.
- No Photography/Video:Absolutely no filming or photos during any starts, especially for 8 & Under. This is strictly for child protection.
- Staging Area:No shoes allowed in the staging area. For half-lappers, parents must take their child's shoes rather than leaving them with the swimmers. (Staging tents will have drop cloths and water misters to keep kids cool!).
- Ducklings:Kickboards will not be provided; please bring your own if needed.
- Timer Rule:Timers must have their toes at the edge of the pool when stopping the clock. This will be strictly enforced.
- Noise Makers:No noise makers are allowed at the facility.
